The Complete Catalog – Pink Dial Project

“When people are unhappy, it’s usually because they spend too much time thinking about themselves and not enough time thinking about others.”

– Ralph Lauren

Bidding Starts, 25 October 2021 on LoupeThis.com

Singapore – 7th October 2021: Revolution is delighted to announce the official launch of the Pink Dial Project 2021. On October 25th, 2021, a week-long auction will commence, featuring unique timepieces offered by some of the world’s leading watch brands.

Each piece has been designed to spotlight the color pink, referencing and paying tribute to the breast cancer awareness movement. Says Wei Koh, Founder of Revolution & The Rake, “We have asked the leaders of our favorite brands to make a single ‘Pink Dial’ prototype watch. We explained that it could be any model in their collection but for us, the more badass the watch, the cooler it would be for it to wear a smoking hot pink dial as a badge of honor to show we are united in this fight against breast cancer.”

This year marks the inaugural auction in what will be an annual project to raise funds to fight breast cancer. It is run in partnership with our friends at Fratello Watches, Loupe This, Time+Tide and The Eye of Jewelry. Every dollar raised will go to the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC), to support their global work.

About UICC

UICC will leverage its full portfolio of activities in support of Revolution’s ambition to impact breast cancer, towards all six outcomes shown below. In particular, UICC will work to drive national action through specific disbursement of project-focused grants.

About UICC

The auction will run for seven days on Loupe This commencing at 5pm SG/HK on 25th October. Bidders must register with Loupe This for an account. Wei Koh is expecting bidding to be strong for all lots. He commented, “There will be some watches that I know will be the subject of some frenzied last-minute bidding, but when you’ve been outbid, you’ll get an email or text message from Loupe This to alert you and give you the opportunity to increase your bid. I’d like to thank Eric Ku and Justin Gruenberg for supporting this and for waiving all the fees normally associated with such an online auction.”

We are immensely grateful to all the watch brands and friends that have supported this effort and provided us with unique watches that will be auctioned for such a very worthy cause. The participating brands are:

Says Wei Koh in conclusion, “The charity auction will take place in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I know this because October is when Ralph Lauren has their yearly Pink Pony initiative. Incidentally, Ralph Lauren was also a major inspiration for this charity auction. People are generally unaware of how incredibly altruistic he is because he doesn’t do things for attention. For example, recognizing that cancer survival rates in Harlem, New York City, were lower than those in the Third World, he took it upon himself to build a cancer hospital there and help fund it through initiatives like Pink Pony. He once told me, ‘Wei, when people are unhappy, it’s usually because they spend too much time thinking about themselves and not enough time thinking about others.’ And this has proven to be one of the most enduring truths I’ve learned.”

Airain Type 20 Pink Ribbon Pièce Unique

About the Brand
Montres Airain was originally conceived by the illustrious Dodane family in 1934. It rose to fame for its trustworthy, high quality timepieces. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Airain was one of the selected suppliers of the Type 20 model for the French army.

Airain Type 20 Pink Ribbon Pièce Unique

ANORDAIN

Model 3 Linen-Enamel 925

About the Brand
Specialising in enamel, anOrdain is based out of a light-filled, purpose-designed studio in the East End of Glasgow. The team of design engineers, typographers, enamellers, watchmakers and apprentices work collaboratively to create beautiful, high precision timepieces.

Model 3 Linen-Enamel 925
“For our contribution to the cause, we’ve created a unique piece reminiscent of vintage, mid-century timepieces with our interpretation of a linen dial. Not only was this a style we’d never tried before, but the textile effect of linen dials refers to the texture of ribbon fiber, alluding to the international symbol for Breast Cancer Awareness, the Pink Ribbon. To add to its allure on auction day, our Pink Dial also provides several sneak peeks of what to expect from our upcoming third watch, the Model 3.”

Estimate (USD)

A Message from the Brand
“This is probably our most significant piece to date. It shows the team’s burgeoning technical ability — the dial is the first combination of linen and enamel I know of, and the 8 is a ribbon, symbolising 1 in 8 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. The hands are formed from solid red gold and a very well considered, intelligent approach to design. On a personal level, I lost my dad to cancer last year. Creating this watch has had a extra meaning for me, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity — so thank you Wei and David Sharp, and the team at anOrdain.“ – Lewis Heath

BALL Watch Company

Engineer Hydrocarbon Hope - DL2016B-S5CAJ-PK

About the Brand
Look closely at every BALL timepiece and you’ll see two boldly emblazoned letters: RR. Railroad. This enduring heritage stretches back more than 125 years to the age of powerful locomotives, burgeoning freedom and the obsession of Webb C. Ball, whose watchmaking expertise and high standards of precision revolutionized watchmaking and timekeeping forever. At his death, Webb C. Ball had contributed more than any other person in creating the performance and accuracy requirements for railroad watches. His work in crafting the most precise timepieces and instituting an inspection system was imperative and extraordinary. It not only improved railroad operations, it was an essential part of timekeeping’s foundation. Today, functionality remains a top priority, so Ball will go to special lengths to work special technologies into its timepieces. In fact, it is one of few brands to use tritium gas tubes to light up the timepieces. With this heritage, BALL is continuing its role today as a key protagonist in the evolution of watchmaking history.

Engineer Hydrocarbon Hope – DL2016B-S5CAJ-PK
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Hope is a perfect example of the most rugged, most reliable and most sophisticated collection of timepieces ever designed by BALL Watch. And because exploration doesn’t stop at sunset, the Engineer Hydrocarbon Hope features 18 micro gas tubes on its dial and hands. Baltic Watches

BICOMPAX – Pink Dial for REVOLUTION

About the Brand
BALTIC Watches was launched via Kickstarter in 2017 with two watches: The Bicompax & HMS, both inspired by the 40s step-cases watches. The idea to make vintage-inspired watches with modern tweaks didn’t come from nowhere. Founder Etienne Malec inherited a collection of watches from his father, whom he didn’t had the chance to know. His father extensively recorded his watches in a journal, keeping track of every one that passed through his hands. Being immersed in this journal and this collection was the beginning of a passion story that started more than 15 years ago, and it has been crucial to the vision behind BALTIC watches today.

BICOMPAX – Pink Dial for REVOLUTION
Inspired by 40s stepped case watches, this Bicompax new iteration in 36.5mm offers a few differences: A newly proportioned step now including a bevel on the first step and a slightly slimmer case thanks to a bigger domed hesalite glass. This pulsometer scale is calibrated for 30 heartbeats (or pulsations) and will give you your heartbeat indication rate per minute.

Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Edition “Pink Dial Project”
No other model expresses the fascination of IWC Schaffhausen aviator’s watches like the Big Pilot’s Watch. Its purely functional cockpit-instrument design and oversized conical crown were inspired by a military observation watch from the 1940s. This unique piece for the Pink Dial Project features a vivid pink dial, rhodium-plated hands with glowing luminescence, a uniquely embellished case back and a white rubber strap. Visible through the sapphire glass case back is the IWC-manufactured 82100 caliber. The Pellaton winding system has been reinforced with ceramic components and builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. Combined with a 10 bar water-resistant case, this transforms the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 into a modern, fully versatile sports watch.

Jacques Bianchi Marseille

JB 200 “Pink Diver” Pièce Unique

About the Brand
In the mid-1980s, Jacques Bianchi developed — under his own name — a diver’s watch, water-resistant to 200 meters originally commissioned by the French navy. Four decades later the master craftsmen Jacques Bianchi relaunched the brand with the iconic JB 200 in its orignal birth place of Marseille, incorporating over 50 years of expertise in water resistance.

Jacques Bianchi – JB 200 – Pink Edition
The JB 200 is a re-edition of a diving watch that was once used by the French Navy.Created in the 1980s, by the master craftsman Jacques Bianchi, it is a watch that is recognizable by its unique dial, featuring the silhouette of a diver in action. It is a part of the great watchmaking history of “French Skin Divers”.

The design of the destro case of the historic JB 200 evokes the spirit of diving watches of the 1970s, halfway between the finesse of the “skin divers” of the 1960s and the robustness of the divers of the 1980s. In order to equip the new model with an automatic caliber — which is necessarily thicker than a quartz movement — the proportions had to be reviewed and improved. The 42 mm off-crown diameter of the case remains unchanged, but a long adjustment process was necessary to preserve the spirit of the historical shapes and the technical requirements imposed by the integration of an automatic movement.

Tank Louis Cartier Limited Edition Print, ‘Fuschia’, 1/1
One of the most iconic watches of all time, the Tank is effortlessly timeless and transcends any era of style. Louis Cartier designed the prototype in 1917 taking inspiration from the Renault FT tank. The artist created this artwork enthralled by the idea that one of the most elegant design objects of the 20th century was inspired by a war machine; the idea that something can be emptied of its negative content and repurposed for good. Woven inspiration is kept simple in this piece with five rivets from the Renault FT tank placed on the straps. The time is set to 7:22 (or 19h22) for the year the Tank Louis Cartier was first released.

M.A.D. Edition

M.A.D.1 Pink Dial Project

About the Brand
For the past 16 years, MB&F has been creating other-worldly horological machines. Founder and creative director Maximilian Büsser loves creating these insane mechanical timepieces, but their very high price — a logical consequence of their complexity, limited production and quality of finishing — has generated a bit of frustration: his family and most of his close friends will never be able to afford them. Max has been playing with a side project for quite some time now — creating a machine that is more accessible, under another label, but always with the signature MB&F touch. The result is “M.A.D.1”. The M.A.D.1 is reserved in priority for the partners who have made the MB&F adventure possible: the “Friends”, the suppliers who have been conceiving and manufacturing MB&F Machines for the past 16 years, and the members of The Tribe, the MB&F owners’ club.

M.A.D.1 Pink Dial Project
The M.A.D.1’s special features are the fully visible automatic winding rotor — the star of the show! — and also the lateral time display. Powered by one of the rare automatic movements with unidirectional winding (essential for an easy, high-speed rotation), the well-known and reliable Miyota 821A has been flipped upside-down to showcase a pretty crazy triple-blade winding rotor, crafted in titanium and tungsten. The typically MB&F lateral time display is obtained thanks to two aluminum alloy cylinders for the hours and minutes, engraved and boosted with Super-LumiNova. For this pièce unique, both the visible bridge and the time display receive a special pink treatment.

“Since 1904, industrial watch making has been in our bones and craftmanship is in our souls. Our mechanical watches always conform to the Oris credo: Things must make sense. We live for the quality of work we put into our watches. While others follow a path, we define our own. Go your own way.”

Oris ProPilot X Caliber 115 Pink Dial Project
For the Big Crown ProPilot X Caliber 115, Oris’s watchmakers took the spirit of Caliber 110 and imagined a fully skeletonised Oris movement. Traditionally, skeletonisation provided a window for a watchmaker’s talents, but this movement had higher ambitions. It had to reconnect people to how things work.

The Big Crown ProPilot X Caliber 115 lays bare its inner workings. Nothing is hidden. Even the barrel at 12 o’clock is skeletonised so you can see the extended mainspring. Winding the crown, you watch on as the mainspring coils tighter… and tighter… until it’s fully wound and ready to deliver 10 days of uninterrupted power.

The ProPilot X for the Pink Dial Project features a unique pink dial, the very first dial change since the launch of the original watch in 2019.

SINN

U50 S Pink Dial

About the Brand
Sinn Spezialuhren stands for highly functional mechanical watches. Its pilot watches, diving watches, chronographs and Mission Timer (Einsatzzeitmesser / EZM) are designed to impress not only pilots, divers and the German federal police special force GSG 9 (Grenzschutzgruppe 9). SINN watches continuously prove their toughness, durability, high quality and precision in both everyday and extreme situations. These characteristics are due in no small part to the incorporation of the brand’s special technologies including DIAPAL, Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, HYDRO and TEGIMENT . When Sinn Spezialuhren develops a new watch, its form is always dictated by the required function.

U50 S Pink Dial
Durability and clear readability in a 41 mm diameter size that is comfortable to wear: you will find these properties in the U50 S Pink Dial. Visually, the diver’s watch is noticeable for the striking design of its unique pink dial and a display that concentrates on the essentials. When it comes to its features, we also focus consistently on typical SINN characteristics. The case and crown are thus made of high-strength seawater-resistant German Submarine Steel with Black Hard Coating on a tegimented basis. This type of steel stands out not only for its extremely high strength and exceptional non-magnetic properties but also for its especially high resistance to seawater. We have designed the rotating bezel so that it is captive in the case. As it may experience high levels of stress during use, we have also hardened the surface using TEGIMENT Technology, making it especially scratch-resistant. These features make it clear that the U50 S Pink Dial is perfectly suited to diving use, a fact that has been verified by the classification company DNV. DNV verifies and certifies pressure resistance to a diving depth of 500 metres (= 50 bar) and temperature resistance and functionality in accordance with the European diving equipment standards.
