Playing Secret Santa: Adi Soon to Revolution’s USA Editor-in-Chief, Keith W. Strandberg

Editor’s Note: This year, instead of making out wish lists, the Revolution editorial team played secret Santa to one another. Here’s what Australia & Asia Editor-in-Chief, Adi Soon dreamt up for USA Editor-in-Chief, Keith W. Strandberg when he picked his name out of the hat.

In all my dealings with Keith, I’ve always found him to be a stand-up, straightforward guy, truly a man’s man. When I learned, for example, that he has a black belt in karate and is able to speak Mandarin, my esteem for him was elevated even further. Clearly, with superspy-type skills like these, you don’t mess around when choosing a watch for him. With that in mind, one of my choices must necessarily be incredibly versatile and useful in a variety of situations.

My first choice for him, therefore, is the Breitling Chronomat 44 GMT. This is a watch that has essentially everything one needs: dual timezone, date, chronograph and the ability to go underwater to 500 meters. Of course, there are some situations when something dressier is necessary, but without the compromise of durability and reliability.

My next choice with this in mind, therefore, is the BENU Tourbillon from Moritz Grossmann, an amazing piece of high-end horology from Glashütte, Germany, coming with a relatively rare stop-seconds tourbillon and sublime finishing.

The final choice I have for Keith is the Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon”. We know that the original Omega Speedmaster Professional is the Moonwatch and there is no more American Swiss-made watch than this one. The Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon” that I’ve chosen is a thoroughly modern incarnation of an old classic, and if Keith were to one day be called up to go on a mission to Mars with NASA, this is the watch that he should wear on his wrist.
