The Latest Chopard L.U.C Models Have Arrived With A Slimmer, Reshaped Case
It is no secret that Chopard L.U.C has been quietly dominating the conversation among watch enthusiasts in recent years, and we say “quietly” because these watches are the very epitome of discreet luxury. Yet, whether equipped with a time-only movement or an innovative new grande complication, a Chopard L.U.C watch speaks volumes through a harmonious combination of storied past and vibrant present. A contemporary tribute to the origin story of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the collection is perpetually driven by a quest to achieve the highest standard of Swiss watchmaking. This is a vision overseen personally by Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, whose immaculate taste for haute horlogerie is imbued into every Chopard L.U.C watch and these three new releases are no exception.
Chopard L.U.C Lunar One
The L.U.C Lunar One returns to the spotlight this year and it brings along some cool updates that will only make collectors love it more. Just a quick recap before going into the novelties: This watch was first introduced in yellow gold in 2005, then powered by the Calibre 96.13 perpetual calendar with astronomical moon phase which is based off the micro-rotor base caliber 1.96, endowing it with a large date display, day and month counters, along with day and night, leap year and orbital moon phase displays with a choice of Northern or Southern Hemisphere constellations with the moon phase.
It must be said that the L.U.C Lunar One remains, to this day, the only timepiece in its category equipped with a precision orbital moon-phase display featuring a rotating window. As expected of astronomical moon phase displays, this one is accurate to 122 years. Following the introductory model came a second version in 2012, this time in rose gold. Demonstrating Scheufele’s unwavering dedication to horological excellence, this 2012 model came with new improvements including Geneva Seal and COSC certification. Thereafter, Chopard further refined this model in 2017, crafting a gorgeous piece in platinum with a deep blue dial complete with sunray finish.
This year the L.U.C Lunar One collection welcomes two new references that are at once fresh yet familiar, thanks to tastefully implemented aesthetic modifications around the case and dial. For starters, these watches come with a new case profile updated to the latest L.U.C collection design codes. Reshaped to be as slim and elegant as possible, it is now 40.5mm in diameter with a 11.6mm height compared to the 43mm diameter of the 2017 model, which was 11.47mm in height — although that reference had a single not double moon display. Yes you read right, this is the first time we’re seeing a L.U.C Lunar One with a double moon display.
Referencing the style of 19th century pocket watches, this new case is described as having a bassiné shape, meaning its base is narrow than its bezel, which is domed polished. You will also find it has vertical satin-brushed sides and a curved, fluted crown. The latter offers more ergonomic handling should you ever need to adjust the watch. Just as a reminder, Calibre 96.13-L is a self-winding movement with a gold micro-rotor featuring beautiful hand guilloché visible through the sapphire case back. Additionally, the lugs here are welded lugs, crafted individually before they are soldered to the case.
The 2025 L.U.C Lunar One comes in two design variations, rose gold with a deep blue dial and white gold with a salmon pink dial. Both are decorated with hand-guilloché in a sunburst motif radiating from the moon phase indicator which cements it as the focal point of this timepiece. Along with the sunburst motif, a concentric snailed pattern runs around the dial periphery where the minutes track resides, as well as the perpetual calendar counters, but there’s more. The day/night indicator is decorated with two types of hand-guilloché, a radiating pattern representing the rays of the sun and a horizontal motif evoking the serenity of the night.
Another first in this watch is the interchangeable strap system which allows you to swap out the alligator leather strap for a calfskin strap, all of which are supplied with the timepiece. That said, owners can browse a fuller array of strap options in all Chopard boutiques.
Chopard L.U.C Flying T Twin Perpetual
Remember the Chopard L.U.C Flying T? Ok that was entirely rhetorical because how could anyone forget this insanely beautiful watch? No matter what case material, no matter what dial color — of course we remain partial to our own Revolution special edition — the L.U.C Flying T Twin is as compelling as the first light of the morning. Powered by Chopard’s first mechanical self-winding flying tourbillon Calibre 96.36-L, this watch is once again certified by both the Geneva Seal and COSC.
So for 2025 Chopard builds upon what it had started here, introducing the new L.U.C Flying T Twin Perpetual, its first high complication model combining a flying tourbillon with a large date perpetual calendar. Just a quick refresher, the last time Chopard did a perpetual calendar tourbillon was in 2013 via the L.U.C Perpetual T which featured a bridged tourbillon.
Calibre 96.36-L continues to espouse the cherished values of Chopard L.U.C, its svelte 6mm height made possible thanks to the gold micro-rotor and the 65-hour power reserve deriving energy from twin stacked barrels, known in the industry as Chopard Twin Technology. Constructed from 319 individual components, this movement proffers an instantaneous display of all the perpetual calendar indications.
Just like the L.U.C Lunar One, the L.U.C Flying T Twin Perpetual is housed in the new bassiné shaped case, crafted in yellow gold, and features a hand-guilloché decorated dial dressed in an alluring shade of forest green. It is also designed with the interchangeable strap system, delivered with alligator and calfskin straps.
