This octagonal G-Shock with a full metal case is likely to win fans of mechanical watches over.

The first-ever full-metal Casio G-SHOCK 2100 is a showstopper. Its octagonal bezel is a tribute to the very first G-Shock that debuted in 1983, the DW-5000C, which had a squared octagonal bezel.

When Casio unveiled its 2100 range in resin in 2019, it enjoyed global acclaim. This motivated the brand to expand the 2100 collection with watches with new designs and technological innovations.

Uniting the design of the DW-5000C with that of the AW-500, which was G-SHOCK’s first analog model, the GA-2100 was an important milestone in electronic watchmaking. The GM-B2100 pays homage to this pivotal timepiece, this time with a metal bezel shaped from a single block of stainless steel, and paired with metal pushers, screwback case and bracelet.

Its case ensures water-resistance to at least 200m. Its lugs have a three-pronged structure that disperses shock to the connective part of the band and the case is lined with fine resin buffering components, thus conferring the Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100 its legendary namesake extreme shock-resistance.

Careful forging, cutting, and polishing have been employed to realize the breathtaking appearance of the GM-B2100’s case. Grind-mark finish and vapor deposition have been applied to the inset dial ring, which is laser welded to the dial.

Besides silver (GM-B2100D), the Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100 is also available in all-black (GM-B2100BD) and rose gold (GM-B2100GD).

If you haven’t owned a G-SHOCK for a while, it might surprise you that modern G-SHOCKs like the GM-B2100 sync with your smartphone and have Bluetooth® connectivity. Bluetooth® connectivity also continually updates the watch’s time to ensure accuracy. The Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100 is the very first 2100 model with octagonal bezel to incorporate this technology.

The Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100 is also incorporated with Tough Solar technology, which enables the watch to absorb energy from not just the sun, but also from low-power non-solar light sources such as indoor lighting. G-SHOCK has got you covered even in the darkest of times. This watch even syncs with a dedicated Casio app and is armed with functions like a phone finder, multi-time alarm, event reminder, countdown timer, 1/100-second stopwatch and world time for 300 cities. If you’d like to record the date, time and position at an important moment, the Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100 does that for you at the press of a button.

The Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100 comprises so many high-tech functions, but is, in fact, thinner than some of its predecessors. The GMW-B5000 is 13mm thick and the AWM-500 is 14.2mm thick, while the GM-B2100 is only 12.8mm.

Another series of full-metal watches, the GMW-B5000 series was warmly received when it was released, to the point where it became a highly sought-after collection that was difficult to obtain.

Many mechanical watch aficionados who have had their reservations about collecting quartz watches will be won over by the Casio G-SHOCK GM-B2100. Examine this watch close-up to enjoy its alluring finishes. You’ll love the intricacy of the round hairline finish applied to its top surfaces, which beautifully contrasts the mirror finish applied to this watch’s slanted surfaces. This juxtaposition is thoroughly scintillating when admired at different angles.

Not your 1980s or ’90s G-SHOCK, the GM-B2100 packs numerous useful functions into a fairly light and slim watch that can confidently take a hit and keep on ticking. An important milestone for G-SHOCK, the GM-B2100 is destined to go down in the annals of Casio history as a future legend. It’s very rugged and unique, yet accessible, which is why I’d recommend this watch to everyone, and not just fans of G-SHOCK.

The pre-order of the GM-B2100 will start on gshock.casio.com/sg/ on August 4, 2022 for Casio ID members. These watches will be delivered after August 12, 2022. At all G-SHOCK stores, these watches will be available from August 12, 2022.
