Introducing Blancpain’s new Ladybird Colors Small Seconds and Moon Phase models

Blancpain’s elegant and colorful Ladybird timepieces return with small seconds and moon phase complications, and encrusted in diamonds
A manufacture that is synonymous with elegance and technical excellence, Blancpain has launched an enticing new array of small seconds and moon phase watches in 34.9mm case size. Each component of these watches is painstakingly decorated, both aesthetically pleasing and technically functional. These small seconds and moon phase complications have been elegantly integrated into the six o’clock position of each dial, and these dials are accentuated by cases set with 58 diamonds totalling approximately two carats. A difficult gemsetting technique has been used to encrust these cases, and these diamonds have also been individually hand-adjusted to ensure optimal radiance.
The inner rings on these dials too have been decorated with 70 diamonds within radial Roman numerals and tapering around the small seconds or moon phase indicator. To complement these mother-of-pearl dials and red or white gold cases, Blancpain has chosen colors like midnight blue, peacock green, forest green, lilac and turquoise for these Roman numerals and their matching straps.

Blancpain’s Calibre 1163 drives the small seconds models while the Calibre 1163L powers the moon phase watches. Packing a four-day power reserve each, these smaller, but still technically impressive movements are bolstered by a silicon balance spring to improve accuracy and efficiency. Turn the new Ladybird watch around to enjoy a gold oscillating weight in a color that matches the case. You’ll love the intricate circular openworked patterns that reflect the dial design.

These new colors and complications add depth and beauty to the Ladybird series, which is the flagship women’s collection of Blancpain. The Ladybird collection pays tribute to Blancpain’s trailblazing role in the history of feminine watches. From the first automatic ladies’ wristwatch in 1930 to the smallest mechanical movement, the Ladybird collection embodies Blancpain’s pursuit of creating extraordinary timepieces. This collection’s history is inextricably linked to the determination of Betty Fiechter, who in the 1930s was the first woman to head a watch company. The success of the brand’s jewelry watches and its stellar international reputation can be credited to Fiechter’s vision, unwavering perseverance and astute leadership. With the new Ladybird watches, Blancpain has surpassed itself in creating attractive and sophisticated timepieces, in which jewelry highlights the magic of mechanical watchmaking.
