It has been a phenomenal year for the watch world. To round off 2022, we are celebrating the hits, the wonders, the visionaries and all the people in watchmaking who have made it so memorable in our annual Revolution Awards and Power Lists.

Jacob & Co built its reputation on gem-set pieces and a star-studded clientele. Watches like the technically proficient Jacob & Co. Jean Bugatti Tourbillon Chronograph set a new course. There’s a reason it’s the winner of our Best Chronograph of 2022 Award.

While the brand has in the past been associated with stunning gem-setting and larger-than-life customers like Drake, Canelo and Conor McGregor, Jacob and Benjamin Arabov, the father and son duo helming the brand with perfect teamwork, are incredibly focused on technical innovation and authentic watchmaking. The Jean Bugatti Tourbillon Chronograph is the perfect embodiment of that.

It features two centrally mounted retrograde chrono hands. The first is the chrono seconds hand and the second shows a reading for every 10 seconds. In addition, there is a precise jumping digital minute counter for up to 30 minutes nestled between the two tourbillon apertures. Why? In order to create the single most animated chronograph on the planet. And yes, those are two flying tourbillons obscured by smoked sapphire crystal windows. Which one drives the chronograph? Neither. This is driven by a dedicated 5Hz balance wheel that only blazes into action when the chronograph function is activated.
The Jean Bugatti Tourbillon Chronograph is, in other words, absolute genius.
