William Massena, the founder of Massena LAB, has spent three decades collecting and curating watches. In 2020 he created the Uni-Racer series, out of frustration, not being able to get hold of the short-lived “Uni-Compax” made by Universal Geneve in the 1960s. Due to limited production of approximately 2 years, the “Uni-Compax” are extremely rare and so, required high premiums to get one at auctions. Frustrated, Massena decided to create his own version, and named it the Uni-Racer.

For our first collaboration with Massena, we draw on our shared love of historical watches and specifically, a very rare and exquisite vintage Patek Philippe steel chronograph. The Massena LAB X Revolution Uni-Racer 1949 pays homage to the timeless beauty of the unique Patek Philippe reference 130 from 1949. With its distinctive luminous sector track, this unique timepiece captures the essence of the past while embracing the spirit of innovation. 

Encased within a sleek 39 x 9mm stainless steel case offering 50 meters of water resistance, the Massena LAB x Revolution Uni-Racer 1949 transports you to this golden age of horology. Its glossy black dial features a captivating Roman numerals sector track, thoughtfully filled with SuperLumiNova for enhanced visibility. Adding to its vintage charm, the watch proudly showcases a “Base 1000” Tachymeter, evoking a sense of classic racing heritage. In a nod to authenticity, Massena LAB made a deliberate choice to feature a domed acrylic crystal for the watch, coated with a scratch-resistant treatment from Kyburz Cie. This decision, despite its higher cost compared to sapphire crystals, beautifully enhances the nostalgic aura of this masterpiece. Inside the Massena LAB X Revolution, Uni-Racer 1949 is a manually wound column-wheel chronograph caliber, the Sellita SW510M, adjusted to run within chronometer specification with 58 hours of power reserve.
