Despite cramming so much inside, the Solaria is surprisingly wearable. The case is 45mm in diameter and 14.99mm thick — large, yes, but comparable to a modern sports watch. Considering the movement inside comprises 1,521 components and 204 jewels and took eight years for a single master watchmaker to build, the fact it fits on a wrist is pretty damn impressive. Yet in typical Vacheron fashion, the design remains coherent and contemporary — no extravagant frou-frou, just clean displays and modern typography letting the technical marvels speak for themselves.

Historically, Vacheron has danced this dance before — recall the Reference 57260 pocket watch with 57 complications — but the Les Cabinotiers Solaria takes it to another level on the wrist, the ultimate horological flex (until, of course, another record is broken).
