TAG Heuer Expands The Carrera Collection With New Chronographs, Including A New Chronosprint With Porsche
For the past few years, TAG Heuer has been on an absolute winning streak, with major additions to their Carrera collections. For 2025, amidst a triumphant return as the Official Timekeeper of Formula 1, they are not showing any signs of slowing down. (pun very much intended) With that return to racing brings a continued focus on two of Tag Heuer’s most iconic collections — Formula 1 and Carrera.
TAG Heuer Formula 1 Collection
Shortly after Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG) acquired Heuer back in 1985, they released the first Formula 1 watch, a small, sporty, composite timepiece that marked a new day in the history of the legendary watchmaker. Since then, TAG Heuer has traced a winding road through the decades, making pit stops along the way to mark various periods. But all the while, they never strayed too far from the core of their identity: motorsport. Now, as they embark on yet another new era, returning to Formula 1 as the Official Timekeeper, they are marking the occasion with a series of watches that perfectly embody both who TAG Heuer is today and where it is headed.
The brand new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronographs are a bold declaration of TAG Heuer’s future association with motorsport. The 44mm case is made of Grade-2 titanium and will be available in 5 different colorways in either a sandblasted case or black DLC finish. Other aesthetic features include DLC aluminum tachymeter bezel and vibrant colored lacquer accents throughout.
Perhaps the most striking piece is the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Oracle Red Bull Racing. This exclusive collaboration, the eighth such collaboration since their partnership began in 2016, features a unique colorway and details paying homage to the legendary racing franchise, such as the blue opaline dial with checkered pattern and corresponding case back. Unlike the standard editions, this piece also features a forged carbon tachymeter bezel, further emphasizing the synergy of racing technology and traditional timekeeping.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche Rallye
The Formula 1 collection is certainly not the only release which embraces TAG Heuer’s motorsport heritage. In celebration of their continued collaboration and shared history, TAG Heuer has announced the Limited Edition Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche Rallye in stainless steel, of which 911 will be produced, and a second limited edition in 18k gold, of which just 11 pieces will be produced. The watches are presented in a beautiful red lacquered box and accompanied by a 1:43rd scale model car of the iconic Porsche 911 “147” which dominated the Monte Carlo Rally in 1965.
Both watches feature black dials with shimmering speckles throughout, accented by red detailing referencing the aforementioned achievements in speed, and aged numbers and luminous accents evoke the original dashboard timers provided by Heuer throughout the early 20th century. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the Calibre TH20-08 Automatic movement is seen in its full glory, with the Porsche steering wheel inspired rotor taking center stage. The Glassbox domed crystal emphasizes the 60 minute timing scale, punctuated by “PORSCHE” at 11 o’clock.
These two watches continue to honor the legacy of the Porsche 911 “147”’s historic sprint, achieving 0-100km in a blistering (for the time) 9.1 seconds. As such, the TH20-80 movement is designed to clock the first 15 seconds of a 60 second timer with extreme accuracy and precision. The red lines along the right side of the dial mark precisely 9.1 seconds. After 15 seconds is surpassed, the chronograph hand slows down for the remainder of the minute. It’s an innovation directly resulting from the brilliance of TAG Heuer’s Movement Director Carole Forestier-Kasapi.
Since joining TAG Heuer 5 years ago, Forestier-Kasapi has focused on developing new, durable, accurate movements, bolstering TAG Heuer’s presence and prowess within the horological world. “The strategy is for the maison to have a catalog of movements that offer better quality and durability… This is also the reason why we launched an evolution of the Heuer 02 movement, the TH20, with a new automatic system [that’s] higher quality and more durable,” said Forestier-Kasapi to Revolution in a previous interview. Today, with the addition of these two new Chronosprints, TAG Heuer is further demonstrating its dedication to motorsport, building both function and heritage into the very beating hearts of their timepieces.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph with smoky purple dials
Continuing on the universally adored Glassbox design, TAG Heuer has added two new Carrera Chronographs to the collection. The dramatic, purple sunray dial shifts to tenebrous black towards the outer 60 minute timing scale. Through the caseback one can see the beautifully finished Caliber TG20-00 automatic column wheel chronograph movement. At 39mm, it makes for a fantastic synthesis of classic personality with modern proportions and aesthetic.
The addition of this striking purple dial would be a solid update to what has become a collection of instant classics, but TAG Heuer, of course, has more up their sleeve. Alongside the production model, a new limited edition complete with a striking Tourbillon set at 6 o’clock. At 42mm, the case feels proportionate to the complexity of the tourbillon on display, balanced by the diamond polished indices which surround the shadowy purple dial. The Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon will be limited to 200 pieces.
But lest the world think TAG Heuer has only focused on motorsport, the Carrera Chronograph collection has received two additional pieces with a dressy, shimmering flair. Available in either a soft, powder pink or deep metallic blue dials with circular brushed texture, both watches feature 72 white diamonds set elegantly around the outer bezel and marking the hours (with the exception of 6 o ‘clock, allowing for a date window). Both pieces are available on tone matched calf-skin leather straps with polished steel folding clasps.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date
Continuing in the spirit of sporty elegance and rounding out the collection of Carreras, two new pastel Carrera Dates have been released. Cased in 36mm of stainless steel, the pastel dials are available in either a soft lilac sunray brushed dial or a soft powder pink. Rhodium-plated handset and TAG Heuer badge logo complement 11 diamonds set within applied rhodium indices. The finely finished Calibre 7 automatic movement is visible through an exhibition caseback.
Carrying forward the case updates from 2023, the 36mm case sits at a comfortable 10.26mm thick. Overall wearability is rounded out by way of the updated Carrera H bracelets. Polished and gently tapered, these pieces are easy wearing and versatile.
