There is no question that under Frédéric Grangié’s leadership and Arnaud Chastaingt’s creative vision, Chanel has gone strength to strength in makling its presence felt on the watchmaking landscape. This year, the maison demonstrates just that with an impressive slate of new releases spanning everything from high jewellery to high watchmaking, uniting its storied past and stylistic codes with genuine watchmaking savoire faire.

Chanel J12

It is the most iconic collection in the maison’s stable and probably the one that fans most readily associate with Chanel watchmaking. This year, the J12 continues its hold on the public imagination with two new sizes at each end of the spectrum: a miniature 28mm versus an oversized 42mm. While the mini 28mm bears a quartz movement, the maxi version is powered by the automatic manufacture movement, Caliber 12.1 produced by Kenissi, which is COSC certified.

In storytelling terms, it perfectly encapsulates the game-changing gender-neutral legacy of the J12 when it was launched in 2000. More than 25 years on, it continues to stay relevant and immensely desirable.

Outside of the core black and white J12 collection, the two contrary sizes can also be found in the tres chic limited edition J12 Golden Black, featuring polished or matt black ceramic cases and bracelets, paired with yellow gold-plated indexes. Here the maxi watch bears a matching gold-plated oscillating weight, displayed via the sapphire caseback.

But perhaps the most striking of the 42mm examples is the J12 Superleggera. This latest 2026 incarnation is perhaps its sleekest, most edgy yet. It comes in a black matte ceramic and steel pairing, with a hardened steel bezel that is satin-finished on the top and blackened at the base, and with very tight gouges. The dial is black-lacquered with circular satin finishing and snailed at the edges. Date, meanwhile, is indicated by a red arrow for the window at 4 o’clock. The bracelet is matte black ceramic woven with satin-finished steel center links for a sharp bold look.

Last but not least, the J12 Bleu with perhaps the most anticipated news of all: it is now part of the permanent collection at Chanel. With its deep inky blue ceramic, the J12 Bleu received much love when it was first launched last year as a limited edition. It returns for good in two sizes: 33mm and 38mm, bearing the signature hallmarks of the J12, here enhanced in contrasting silver, which pairs well with the steel unidirectional bezel. They are powered by the COSC-certified automatic Caliber 12.2 for 33mm and 12.1 for 38mm respectively. For now, functions are limited to the regular hours, minutes and seconds, but we are sure there will be more to come, so keep this closely in view.

Chanel Coco Game Collection

Chanel’s annual unveiling is never just about novelty, but the wit and whimsy that gives each creation its singular charm and appeal. Nowhere is this more evident than in its haute horologerie Coco Game collection where Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel stands front and center as muse — and we mean that quite literally.

A piece unique chessboard crafted out of ceramic is at the heart of the collection. It brings together the various emblems of Chanel while highlighting its goldsmithing and gem-setting expertise.

From there, the collection springs into myriad limited edition iterations across the various Chanel watch families, beginning with the diamond-studded J12 X-Ray featuring the stunning manufacture 3.1 Caliber skeleton movement with sapphire bridges and plate. In both glossy white and matt black ceramic J12 Coco Game, Mademoiselle is transformed into a game character on the seconds hand, laser-cut from a carbon plate to ensure the requisite lightness of being that lets her glide around a jet black dial set with diamond indexes. In the Boy•Friend, she is the Queen of Hearts on the dial, while for the Coco Game Long Necklace that was inspired by the Game Boy, she is literally cast from diamonds, with the miniature watch dial on the reverse.

Chanel Noeud de Camelia

This is a brand new, fashion-forward collection that is entirely in keeping with the maison’s standing as the arbiter of style. Noeud de Camelia, as its name suggests, draws on Mademoiselle’s favourite flower, the Camelia, for inspiration. One for the ladies, the collection features four wrist watches and one secret ring watch in the classic Chanel black and white, variously festooned with glittering diamonds.

Mademoiselle Privé Bouton Lion

No one does secret watches quite like Chanel. Last year, for instance, the maison has given us the exceptionally stylish sautoir necklace with a hidden watch in one of its lion head buttons. This year, Chanel gives us the Mademoiselle Privé Bouton Lion, again featuring the lion, one of the house’s favoured emblems. Here, it hides the exquisitely sculpted lion head hides the watch dial in a ring watch and necklace, executed in glamorous gold and black.
