Bvlgari Aluminum GMT Amerigo Vespucci Special Edition

The Amerigo Vespucci is a majestic full-rigged three-masted tall ship with 26 sails used as a school ship for Italian naval cadets. The ship was built in 1930 in Naples and put in service in 1931. Her hull is painted black with two large white stripes as a nod to the two gun decks of the ships after which she was designed. As a sign of respect for her namesake, her bow is adorned with a life-size figurehead of Amerigo Vespucci. She has been in service since her launch in 1931 and has sailed beyond her local European waters to North and South America, around the Pacific and even undertook a voyage around the world in 2002.

The caliber BVL 192 movement, based on the Sellita SW330, has a 50-hour power reserve and a 4Hz beat rate. The caseback is black DLC-coated titanium and bears the signature “Nave Scuola Amerigo Vespucci.” The watch is presented in a mahogany box with the ship’s motto “Non chi cominicia ma quel che persevera,” which translates to “Not he who begins, but he who perseveres,” to honor not only the ship that bears Vespucci’s name, but also celebrate the perseverance that can drive a man to travel the world and set foot on shores yet to be explored.

Bvlgari Aluminum Chronograph Ducati Special Edition

It is always exciting when two icons come together to create something special. This is definitely the case with Bvlgari’s collaboration with Ducati, resulting in the Bvlgari Aluminum Chronograph Ducati Special Edition. With both brands well known for their luxury sport aesthetics and mechanical prowess, the timepiece is destined to be an object of admiration and power.

The 40mm case of the watch is aluminum with a black rubber bezel emblazoned with the ever-popular Bvlgari Bvlgari logo. The indisputable star of the show is the dynamic dial with its brilliant and instantly recognizable Ducati matte red that draws attention. The black and white colorway of the tri-compax subdials (30-minute, 12-hour and small seconds functions) and gauge-inspired red hands to create a dashboard effect reminiscent of the famous motorcycles add to an incredible visual interest. The markers at 10, 11 and 12 o’clock are replaced by large, italicized Arabic numbers like those of the Ducati bike rev counter. The hour markers, hour and minute hands are all filled with Super- LumiNova for low-light visibility. The date window at the 4:30 position is well placed, blending in with the sporty theme without distracting from the dial.
