Pre-SIHH 2019: HYT’s H20 “Time Is Fluid”
Available in two versions (18 karat yellow gold and stainless steel), the H20 “Time Is Fluid” encompasses both an update in the H20’s design and a philosophical embrace. The cloche-like sapphire crystal from the H20 (which was just spectacular to see when the brand first unveiled it in 2018) gives a complete look into the movement, unique to HYT. Unlike this year’s H20, where the numerals stood upright and circled the watch so you could see them from the side, HYT opted to replace those with letters, spelling out “TIME IS FLUID”, a philosophy that the brand wholeheartedly believes in.
The new design also includes diamond-patterned guilloché decoration on the minute and seconds discs and the mainplate — all are angled slightly differently from the other, creating an almost “layering” of different guilloché patterns. The familiar tube filled with dyed liquid, which circles the dial and progresses along the hour markers to indicate the time, returns on this new model. The liquid is red on the yellow gold piece and black on the stainless steel piece.
Officially unveiled at SIHH 2019 for the public to see, the H20 “Time Is Fuild” pieces promise to keep things interesting in the Carré this year by continuing to tell HYT’s story. “‘Time is Fluid’ not only refers to our unique way of indicating the passage of time,” said Nunez. “It tells about our philosophy as well. Time is a constant flow that always moves forward. As a contemporary watch brand, we feel it is our role to reflect on this idea and to reflect on the world we are living in.”
