Introducing the James Lamb Origin Series
The Low-down
Lincoln, England isn’t exactly the first place you’d think of when you think of artisanal watchmaking. However, the city with the famous Cathedral is the home of independent watchmaker James Lamb, who recently announced his debut Origin collection, a quartet of limited edition watches with striking champlevé enamel dials and truly exceptional silver cases.
IMHO
It’s easy to get distracted by the stunning enamel dials — of which there are four versions, each following a fairly clear elemental theme, with an inset ceramic subdial. Honestly, that’s fair enough because they’re pretty great and almost have a jugendstil or arts and craft aesthetic to them that is entirely suitable for James Lamb’s brand of heavily handmade watch design. And while the dials are made by an enameller with over 40 years’ experience in the trade, the cases are completely made by Lamb himself, a mechanical engineer by training and a member of the British Horological Institute with over 20 years of experience.
Only 50 pieces will be produced in total and made by Lamb himself in batches.
