Nivada Grenchen is a brand with a long and proud history in the realm of dive watches — and the Depthmaster is one of the brand’s most recognizable designs. One of the most coveted variants of this model is the so-called ‘Pac-Man’, named for the ultra stylized font on the dial, which means the numbers resemble pixelated ghosts as much as they do numerals.

But we didn’t just want to look to the past; we also wanted to add our own spin on things. So we took the Depthmaster and made it blacker, thanks to a tough DLC coating. Then we added on the coolest — and most comfortable — beads of rice bracelet we could find, and loaded the whole thing up with lume. The colour of the luminous material is inspired by the creamy head on a perfectly poured pint of Guinness — something that took ample field research to perfect. The only thing left was to give this beast a name. Inspired by a story that the fearsome barracuda is attracted to shiny objects, we decided to name this perfectly matte Depthmaster the ‘No Barracuda’, and made it official with a custom caseback engraving.
