Vintage military watch lovers, rejoice! Hamilton is reviving a classic Ministry of Defence commissioned timepiece with updated features. This watch was then known as the W10, a moniker for 'general army issue' according to standardised military specifications. The brand created this rugged wristwatch for the MoD from 1973 to 1976, designed to the ministry's requirements and outfitted on servicemen.
The 'W10' has long been a cult favourite, particularly among aficionados of utility watches for its user-friendly features, from the plastic composite covering that could be easily polished, to the bright tritium lume and sword-style hands for precise time-setting. Now, Hamilton is reviving this watch as the Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical, bringing back the timepiece in its exact original measurements while updating the watch to 21st century watchmaking standards.Model Khaki Aviation Box/Papers Yes Functions Hours, minutes and central hacking seconds Power reserve 80 hours Material Brushed stainless steel case Dimension 33mm x 36mm Dial Black textured dial with Arabic numerals, quarter markers and chemin-de-fer track, vintage lume and nickeled sword-style hands Case Brushed stainless steel case with screw-down crown and box-shaped hardened mineral crystal with double anti-reflective coating Movement Manual-winding H-50 caliber Lume Beige SuperLuminova Calibre H-50 Water Resistance 100 meters Strap Brown leather NATO-style strap Lug Width 18mm This product will be dispatched in 3 working day(s).

AN AUTHENTIC REVIVAL
The Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical is an accurate revival of the W10 wristwatch that it used to produce for the British Ministry of Defence from 1973 to 1976. It retains all the original character of the watch, updated with refreshed aesthetics and a powerful Hamilton movement.

THE H-50 CALIBER
Hamilton has been steadily developing in-house movements that are based on impressive ETA calibers. The hand-wound H-50 caliber is a 3Hz three-hand, time-only performer with hacking seconds, a function required by the military in order to allow for precise time-setting.

CLASSIC FEATURES
The barrel or 'tonneau'-style case construction with integrated lugs is a classic design and style of the '70s and '80s, with brushed surfaces that give the watch a rugged appeal. The curved and angled case and keepers have a distinctly modern feel with a monobloc, almost military sensibility.

THE MILITARY LOOK
The NATO style strap, better known as the G10 in MoD terms, was in fact the pass-through strap first commissioned in 1973, the same year as the W10 was commissioned. The name comes from how it's catalogued and issued. It's apt that Hamilton has opted to issue the Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical with a NATO-style strap. One version of the watch is in a gray textile pass-through with brushed keepers, and another in a brown calf leather. Pick which you prefer, or swap it out for your own NATO — there's plenty to choose from on our store as well.
