Rado Captain Cook “Ghost Captain” x Revolution & The Rake
Of all the material innovations that Rado has been a pioneer of, from tungsten carbide to ceramic, the brand has braved the frontlines with implementing new materials, emerging as the creator of the first scratchproof watch. Yet, what we're offering here is not another mind-shattering timepiece of revolutionary material, but a piece of history from their archives.
Thus together with Rado, The Rake & Revolution present to you our version of the HyperChrome Captain Cook "Ghost Captain" Limited Edition Dive Watch. We retained the true 37.3 mm size watch case of the original 1962 Captain Cook, dressed in a monochromatic colour palette of grey and white. Framed in a grey ceramic bezel, the matching dial is indicated with white bold hour markers coated in Super-LumiNova, and displays the signature moving anchor against the red background at 12 o'clock. It is powered by the automatic winding ETA C07.6II calibre, providing 80 hours of power reserve and a date aperture at 3 o'clock in red font. Available in a limited edition of 150 pieces, the caseback is specially engraved with the "Revolution" logo and is dressed in a grey leather strap, and comes in accompanying grey NATO-style straps in leather and textile.

In doing more than merely emulating the dive watch of the 60s, we reimagined the Captain Cook with an addition of vintage charm – the allure of the faded bezel. Dive watches that are constantly exposed to the sun and seawater naturally transform black bezels into weathered rings, evoking a sort of hallucinatory, ethereal appearance in a ghost-like grey. Thus gave birth to the Captain Cook "Ghost Captain" Limited Edition Dive Watch by Rado for The Rake & Revolution.
HIGH TECH MEETS VINTAGE
In paying homage to its 1962 original, the watch also carries modern-day features that celebrate Rado's foray into material innovation. Case in point, the HyperChrome bezel which utilises the brand’s high-tech injection-moulding process for ceramic. It also replaces the original acrylic with a highly appealing and totally scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal.
Powered by the automatic-winding ETA C07.6II movement, it provides 80 hours of power reserve and displays the red date aperture at 3 o'clock. The calibre is housed in a stainless steel case, with a decorative stamp of three sea horses on the caseback, and a special "Revolution" engraving.
Popping against the neutral canvas, a red window features the signature anchor in the Rado logo at 12 o’ clock which rotates when the watch is moved about, a detail that is found on all Rado automatic models and a feature that was developed to protect the brand against being copied.
